Did anyone else find this intriguing/fascinating about this year 2011 and the year of your birth?

by now you've probably seen the following dates tossed around that will happen in this year:.

but something i wasn't aware of and my brother-in-law showed me about the year 2011:.

take the last 2 digits of the year of your birth and add it to how old you are/will be in this year(2011) and it should always equal 111.. to illustrate, i was born in 1967 and will be 44 this year.

I need a show of hands: who believes the Bible and to what extent?

i'll start off.. i don't believe anything is divine about bible writings.

i believe there may be some marginal history although not much.

i think alot of folk tales and regional myths are contained in the old testament.

There are things I find hard to understand. The flood account with the Angels and Nephilim resulting. I'm assuming Angelic DNA was passed on. Assuming Angels are all male, they have gender? They have hormones? Maybe they weren't angels and we are misreading it maybe some things are allegorical. The bible was written over a long period of time and the limitations of the writers and people of the time must be taken into account when they wrote. Along with my own limitations of thought and understanding, especially with regard to God.

There are things recorded in the bible that have been dismissed only to be found true as more knowledge has become available.

The Bible tells me about Christ and gives hope. Recently a friend lost a close family member in death. She has a strong faith based on the Bible. She believes she will see them again. Her faith is Bible based and is seeing her through a difficult time. Would she be better off without her belief in the Bible and the resurrection hope? I don't think so.

Celebrating birthday: ground for disfellowshipping?

a friend of mine (inactive) is being threatened with a judicial committee because he took his children to schoolmates' birthdays and because he celebrated his wife's birthday.. do you know if celebrating birthday is sufficient ground for setting a judicial committee?.

the ks2010 does not mention birthdays specifically, and i feel like it would be quite a stretch to make it fall under the "apostasy" category (subcategory "celebrating false religion holidays" or "idolatry").. what do you think?.

it's one of those, "if you could have just one wish.." kind of questions.

I think a person has too have a real desire to question. Whether it be for God or whether it be to remain as they as they are. If they have no desire but are happy as they are hopefully God in his mercy will forgive them.

once you start to doubt the ability of the slave in small things you start to doubt them in big things. Maybe they are wrong on a whole lot more which will cost you your salvation.

1975 wasn't the first time false teachings came from those who claimed to be the sole channel of communication, appointed to had out spiritual food at the proper time.

I think the bible indicates that those who take such responsible positions, all though they appreciate the honor more will be expected of them.

The "slave" gave a specific year that the 7th creative day started. They gave a specific year when you were half way through. They taught the day was 7000 years long and that the last one thousand years would be the reign of Christ. They taught this in 1974/75 in the bookstudy.

If these dates were true the only time possible for Armageddon to come would be in the few remaining months.

Should you have listened to them? Is this food at the proper time? I think not.

You know the teaching came from the "slave" some were stumbled by it. It was a false teaching.

If you think about those you may not feel such a happy witness.

You are a funny person. "an article in Awake and people got carried away with it"

We are around the same age. I was baptised before you. I win.

This idea about 1975 was being taught in one form or another in the congregations for many years. Many people suffered hardship due to it. It may be years ago but I remember it well maybe you wish not too. It is probably not one of the best periods.

Elpiro, You know as I know we should listen to those appointed by Jehovah. With 1975 we listened. They were wrong, it was false.

The idea that we should have our own ideas about whether the slave being right or wrong depending on whether we agree with their biblical arguements is incorrect. You know that.
